Which Jesus?

Posted: April 20, 2011 in Uncategorized

There are many Jesus around the world, from South America to Europe, even in Asian and Africa. There are many people who are called Jesus. Even in the days when Jesus the son of God was on the earth, the bible suggest to us that there were people who were called Jesus, one in particular is in ACT 13:6.

There were and still Jesus of Brazil, Jesus of Lagos, Jesus of Jordan, Jesus of Las Vagas, Jesus of Manchester, Jesus of Alabama, Jesus of Singapore and many more.

In other to distinguish the son of God from others who were named Jesus, both men, demons and angels called Him Jesus of Nazereth, even Jesus the son of God identifed Himself as Jesus of Nazareth.( Mathew 21:11, Mark 1:23-24, Mark 16:5-7, Act 22:8)

Why Nazareth?

It has to be, because He live and grew up there. (Luke 4:16)

Jesus of Nazareth Vs Jesus Christ

Christ is not the surname of Jesus, the word Christ is from the Greek – CHRISTOS, meaning the anointed one and His anointing. Adding Christ to Jesus is a declaration, an acknowledgement of His divine personality:- the true son of God.

So what is the difference?

No difference, one identifies Him with where He was raised as a way of distinguishing Him from others, why, the other acknowledge Him as God the son. We can simply call Him “Jesus Christ of Nazareth”

So What…?

I don’t know how God introduce Himself to you the day He found you, forgave you all of your sin and gave you eternal life ( FYI, you did not find the Lord, He found you), but the bible tells us how He introduced Himself to a brother called Saul as Jesus of Nazareth ( Act 22:8). The angels in Heaven know Him by that name, demons in Hell know Him by that name, what about you? Do you know Him by that name?

Before you get intellectual on me about the many names of the son of God, please, do you know and address Him by this name? It doesn’t matter in what language, do you identify Him by this name?

If there is one thing we must understand, it’s the acknowledgement from the three realms (Heaven, Hell and Earth) about this name.

What if…..

What if I use the name Jesus without Nezereth or Christ, does that mean that Heaven, Hell and Earth will not pay attention to my demands?

The words we use are not as important as our understanding of those very words, Jesus said “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” Mathew 15:8

If your are calling or using the name Jesus without Christ or Nazareth, and it’s from an understanding that you know Him as Lord, Christ, or of Nazareth, not the one from Alabama or Manchester, it will be as though you said it with Christ of Nazereth.

So what is the catch

The point is that, this Jesus is different from the rest and He is God. Philippians 2:9-11

Get to know him for yourself……..
