MY NAME IS NOT JOB

The account of Job in the bible is one of those stories from which a lot of false spiritual doctrines have been birth. It is important that as Christians we STUDY the bible and not make a doctrine out of a single bible verse without reading it in context.  Every major truth in the bible must be confirmed in at least two or three other scriptures. (2 cor 13:1, Deut 19:15).

The story of a Job is one that is taught in many beginners’ class.  It is taught in many religious classes. But how many really understand why this story is in the bible? How many “get” the story of Job. Many have read the account of Job and come to the conclusion, that God sometimes allows the devil to have dominion over Christians.  This could not be farther from the truth! Others have read or heard about the account of Job and concluded that, God sometimes tests us with evil (sickness, poverty, calamity) just to see if we are truly for Him.  Again, this is a lie from the pit of Hell! Some others have through the account of Job, reached the conclusion that God can bless you today and revoke His blessings tomorrow.  This is another lie from hell!

Firstly, let me establish this. As Christians, God has given us dominion over devils of darkness! (Luke 9:1, Mark 16:17). There is no scripture in the bible that suggests that Satan has dominion over a child of God.

Secondly, God does not send evil our way! The bible lets us know that every good and perfect gift comes from God! (James 1:17) You will agree with me that sickness and lack are not good and perfect. We are also told that the devil comes to steal, kill and to destroy. This is his ministry. He does not know how to do anything else! But Christ has come that we may have life and have it in abundance! Until it overflows! (John 10:10) Hallelujah!!!!

Thirdly, God does not bless you today, and change His mind about it tomorrow. The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable! (Romans 11:29). I like how God’s Word Translation states this verse. It says, “God never changes his mind when he gives gifts or when he calls someone.” How true! Aren’t you glad that God doesn’t change His mind about you! He does not withdraw His gift of health based on your mistakes or short-comings! He does not withdraw His gift of peace and prosperity based on your mistakes! His gifts are irrevocable!!! Hallelujah!!!

To properly understand the story of Job, a believer must understand life before Christ and life after Christ died the perfect death and paid the perfect price. I will save this for another day.

I am going to try to explain, what went wrong with Job, in the context of the account we are given in the Book of Job.

To properly understand the story of Job, we cannot start arriving at conclusions based on Job chapter 1. The bible says Job was a man that was richly blessed by God. He was blessed with every earthly possession you can think of! And we are told, that Satan in fulfilling his ministry of going to and fro in the earth, looking for whom he may devour, noticed a hedge around Job. And as long as the hedge was around Job, Satan was unable to inflict harm! Hnmmmm So, that tells me that for calamity to have come to Job and his house, the hedge had to have been broken…Ecc 10:8 lets us know that it is he who breaks the hedge that the serpent bites. So what then did Job do, to break the hedge??? The answer to this is in Job chapter 3. In verse 25, we are told that Job operated in fear! He said, the thing which I fear has come upon me, and that which I am afraid of has come unto me.

What is fear? Fear is the opposite of Faith! If Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rm 10:17), then fear comes by hearing the words of the devil! Fear is able to destroy the hedge! Fear will make you not to work in the authority that you have in Christ! That is why fear is the greatest tool of the enemy! If he can sow fear into your spirit, he can cause you to doubt what God has given to you. Think about it. Job feared being poor. Job feared being sick. He feared losing his family and friends and by this, he unknowingly allowed evil.

In Job chapter 6 verse 24, Job starts to realize that there is a bigger picture,  that things like this don’t just happen if the hedge is still intact. He begins to pray, “teach me, and I will hold my peace, and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.” Job erred in believing the words of Satan and by allowing fear dominate his mind.

In Job 42, Job repented and got restored.

Many have made a doctrine out of Job 1:21. Some have even written songs about it. It is one of the most quoted scriptures when a young man or woman dies untimely. “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away.” Not fully studying the account of Job. The Lord never gives and takes away! His gifts are irrevocable! Let us believe God’s word! Believe what His word says about you! Refuse to operate in fear! Endorse His word to be true in your life!

Thank God for the new covenant, because under the new covenant we have an eternal intercessor in Jesus that constantly intercedes for us by the Holy Ghost even when we may have done things to break the hedge! God is no longer having a conversation with Satan about you! You have been given dominion over Satan and his angels. You have ABSOLUTE dominion! Hallelujah!!! You have become the PRINCIPALITY in town! When you step in, demons check out! Whatsoever is born of God OVERCOMES!!! (1 John 5:4) Child of God, wake up to who you have become in Christ!!! Endorse it! Believe it! Walk in it!
